A picture is worth a thousand words... but one word can change the world.

The true journey of a writer is not necessarily what they write, but why they chose to write it to
begin with. I consider myself a storyteller above all. As a child entertaining others was what I truly
desired. It remains the main reason I love to write. Like a child, I still love to entertain, but as an
adult I also want to edify my audience. Each day the knowledge and truths we see make up our
world. The written word has real power to beautify or damage our way of life.
Actors and performers utilize the part they play to convey their artistry, but the writer imparts on
them the words and lyrics to express their talent. I realized that when I had the honor of being
cast in various theatrical performances—the words the writer put on the page became my canvas
and the colors I chose were often in the hands of the director. That doesn't mean that acting is
easier–to the contrary it is quite difficult to be, “In the moment," and stick to the text. Then of
course there is the blocking, reacting naturally to the unexpected, movement, deciding where the
beats are in the text and making the character your own.
But the writer is always writing; from the moment of conception to the endless rewrites and the
final proofread(s). For me, it is a gift and a privilege to know that someone (this moment or
thousands of years from now) will read some story or article I've written and identify with its intent.
So, I thank God for allowing me to be able to write and exchange my thoughts with
others and thank you, my audience, for allowing me to share the journey with you.
May God Bless You,
Robert Guida
